Fractional radiofrequency (RF) is a form of RF energy that is transmitted to the skin in a fractional way. In a fractional RF device bipolar RF energy is delivered by multiple small pins through a tip with large return electrodes. The tissue between the electrodes serves as a healing reservoir.
Once the energy passes the epidermis, this form of energy is able to induce “volumetric” heating in the dermis. This effect on tissue with minimal epidermal ablation and at the same time a wide dermal heating has a great effect on tissue tightening and lifting, improvement in small wrinkles, skin rejuvenation, acne scarring, striate, acne and more.
Downtime is minimal as the epidermis is nearly intact, with only mild redness between 4 to 48 hours and minimal scabs for 3-5 days depending on the used energy.
There is no need to stay home as all facial changes can be covered by make up. This together with the remarkable clinical results after 5-7 monthly treatments and absolutely minimal risks, makes this form of resurfacing a favorite among the patients.
